Meeting: October 12, 2017

Annie hosted our October meeting to discuss Wave by Sonali Deraniyagala. It was a wonderful evening with the Queen of the Mississippi slipping by in the darkness. Thanks to Paul for marinating the salmon and making the salad, and to Annie for grilling the salmon to perfection! Those in attendance were Annie, Ellen, Jo, Julie, Kathy, Linda, and Nanc.

What a wonderful evening - enjoyed the rich conversations as well as the delicious food.

Understandably, Sonali spent years of grieving and tried to push away memories of her lost family to avoid pain. But once she began to embrace the wonderful memories of her family, it seemed that she was able to move forward in her life while keeping her loved ones alive in her heart.

[Editor's note: We all got a good chuckle when Judy's text arrived in the middle of book club after she attended Aiden's football game.]

Wet feet. Cold. Tired. Old. Will not be at book club. Liked the book.
