Meeting: January 12, 2017

We met at Christe's house for our January meeting to discuss About Grace by Anthony Doerr.  Christe provided delectable soup and many other tasty snacks as we visited and caught up with each others' lives.  Annie, Christe, Ellen, Jo, Judy, Julie, Kathy, and Nanc were in attendance.

I forgot to take a photo from Christe's, so I'm using this one taken in November of Steve and Christe walking on 1st Street for this month's water view photo

I enjoyed About GraceI like the way Anthony Doerr takes ordinary people and shares their extraordinary lives in his creative writing.

~ Linda Jenkins

“Answers seemed to float through the space around him. It was about love. It was about getting handed at conception a gift that sets you apart from everyone and you spend your whole life drifting through the margins of time, not understanding hours like everyone else seems to: glancing at wristwatches, checking timetables - you hardly know what it is people are trying to accomplish when they go through their days: morning, noon, evening, night. Wake up and sleep and wake up. This was about family, how blood superseded death; it was about trying your hardest, it was about snow.”  ~ Anthony Doerr
