We met at Ellen's to discuss The Big Finish by Brooke Fossey. We started early to lessen the chill that was sure to come when the sun set. In general, we all liked the book. The characters all became more endearing as the book progressed. No one tuned in to the Zoom with the author that the library set up. Ellen provided some packaged treats and a jack-o'-lantern for our outdoor meeting. Christe, Ellen, Linda, Jo, Judy, and Nanc attended.

Quote from the character Duffy"I never regretted not having children, or, better said: I never regretted not inflicting myself on a child. Children need too much love, and despite what everyone likes to say, love is not free. Love hurts. It's action, sacrifice, hard, costly and I was...I am... a selfish man." ~Brooke FosseyI thought this an interesting quote because at the end of his life, Duffy gave more to Josie which many parents were and are unable or unwilling to give.
